Chardonnay is probably the most popular white wine style in the world and the chardonnay grape that gives it it’s name is one of the most commonly grown grapes in the world. The chardonnay grape is also commonly used in champagne and other sparkling wines. Winking Owl Chardonnay is probably one of the cheapest ways to be introduced to this style and is a nice cheap wine to keep around the house.
Chardonnay is typically produced in oak barrels which give it the characteristic oaky flavors and the buttery notes come from a secondary fermentation called malolactic fermentation. This second fermentation is common in red wines but chardonnay is the only white wine that regularly has it.
Winking Owl Chardonnay blends flavors of apple, pear, and citrus with toasty oak, vanilla and a hint of butter. It is sweeter than your average chardonnay but not overly sweet. Winking Owl once again makes a surprisingly easy to drink wine for about three bucks! Pair it with seafood, roasted chicken, buttery sauces, or buttered popcorn!

Reviews of Winking Owl Chardonnay
Groovy
It’s very impressive for how much it costs. The buzz is not headache-inducing like some other white wines and it tastes just as well as some chardonnay you could purchase for 3 times the price.
Excellent!
Beyond its very reasonable price (under $3 per bottle), it does not have that annoying oak flavor that many (most?) US chardonnays possessed. I think Aldi’s aged in steel barrels, like chardonnay normally is in France and Chile. It’s MUCH better than ALL woody chardonnays. Bravo for Aldi’s Winking Owl Chardonnay!
Yummy
This tastes lush, but is inexpensive! Me and my hubs are hocked. I love the chard he loves the sav. Highly recommend……👍🏻
love, love it.
This Chardonnay has a nice sweet taste. I has tried more expensIve brand that was a flop. ,or the the price , can’t be beat. I have turn it on to a lot of my friends who have enjoyed it also. I just purchase a case today. Go ahead and try it, you wont’t be disappointed for the price. Cheers
