Aldi Cheese Advent Calendar
Aldi will be bringing back it’s popular Cheese Advent Calendar again this year. It will release on November 1nd, 2023 (Advent Calendar Day) with a price tag of $16.99.
I tried this Advent Calendar in 2021 and I felt like the cheeses were pretty good although there seemed to be some repeats. It is a fun little thing to do but I probably won’t do it again this year. I am a fan of Aldi’s cheese selection and will probably just pick out a couple blocks that I know I like.
The 2023 calendar packaging says 24 mini cheeses from Europe. The package includes 12.7 oz (360g) of cheese.
I would however pick this up if I got the Wine Advent Calendar to go with it. The days are meant to line up in a way that you will have cheese paired with your wine.
That adds enough of a unique little twist to make it worth it for me. If I remember right from last year there were a lot of gouda days in this calendar and maybe that was more for the wine pairing than the cheese lovers.
Since you get such a small piece of each cheese on a day it tough to pair it with something or share it. They are pretty much just a couple small bites and aren’t worth cutting to put on crackers or bread usually.
Keeping this big box of little cheeses in the fridge was kind of inconvenient for me as well so after a little while I just pulled them all out of the box. That is fine if you just have the cheese but it would make it hard to know which pairs with the right wine since you lose the days when you take them out of the box.
Aldi Cheese Advent Calendar Reviews
I was disappointed
My cheese calendar seemed to consist mostly of Gouda with some flavor enhancements. I have had smoked paprika Gouda and jalapeño Gouda multiple times. I probably won’t buy it next year
I got this for the first time this year. while there were some repeats, it was fun to do and i did try some cheeses that i might not have otherwise tried. i don’t drink so i paired mine with pepperoni. LOL
