Why is there no “heat” involved in this equation?
Bought the Easy Home Indoor/Outdoor Lamp all excited for it to heat my basement much more than my small space heater. I am promptly returning it the following day, disappointed and a bit suspicious about how this is being marketed.
Additionally, when I returned it I returned it there were four more returned boxes of these guys on the shelf. I had bought the last one on the shelf the day prior. At least 4 more people had exactly the same disappointing experience within a very small time-frame. What a bummer, Aldi.
The product produces barely any heat, and certainly not enough to be felt in a chilly outdoor setting. Even sitting directly next to it in a basement, I was hard-pressed to notice the heat. I could really only discern it when I pressed my feet directly up to the tower, from my seated position desk chair right next to it.
What I did notice was a super bright orange glow (which might be nice outdoors, granted) and a strange chemical smell coming from it. There’s a “mesh cooling fuzz” around it, which I assume is meant to be burn protection, but which seems like more of a hazard (if this thing even produced enough heat, that is).
There’s no heat adjustment and you’re stuck with a warmth that’s barely discernible, even indoors. I cannot imagine how this would have any effect besides being a extremely bright pull on your electric bill when attempted to be used outdoors.
On the positive side? Props to the design; it’s sleek and the portability is great, with a nice movable handle. I guess. I wouldn’t recommend you pay $30 for this, unless they somehow manage to get this thing to produce HEAT. Hell, i’d pay ten dollars more for it to produce heat even comparable to the other small ceramic/standing heaters that Aldi and inser-other-retailer sells.
