The included bags are most likely meant to be composted commercially so you may not want to add them to your own compost pile. If you have your food waste picked up for compost you should check if they can handle the bags before including them. It also includes 3 odorless filters to minimize any smell coming from the bin.
If you want to help out the environment or your garden an easy way to help is to start composting. Composting is generally done by creating a pile or bin that you add you food scraps too instead of throwing away in the trash.
These food scraps will break down over time and given the right conditions they will become compost which can be used as fertilizer in your yard or garden. Some areas will have a compost pickup like your regular trash pickup where you can throw all your food waste into a separate bin.

Is It A Good Deal?
The Crofton Mini Compost Bin will hit shelves for just $9.99 so it is probably a bit of an impulse purchase. But let’s check and see if this is a good deal just to be sure. Looking online for countertop compost bins you will find a few options for style, material and size.
We will try to stay with similar sized compost bins but there are different styles you could go with. You could go with a plastic option with the OXO Compost bin which has great reviews and is selling for a good bit more than Aldi’s (as I write this). Another option would be the metal Utopia Kitchen Compost Bin that is selling for a premium compared to the Crofton Compost Bin (at the time of posting).

I was not able to find anything as cheap as Aldi’s compost bin online but you may be able to find something locally. Overall the Crofton Countertop Compost bin looks to be a pretty solid deal at less than half the price of most competitors.

2022 Plastic Version
Bad design makes it tough to use if you are composting at home. The bags aren’t meant for home composting and the bin design makes it so you can’t use it without the bags or food scraps get caught under the edge and don’t come out. Also a pain to clean. Hopefully the 2023 version is better but I will look at it in-store very closely before buying.
