Aldi Moka Pot Espresso Maker

The week of 10/25/2023 is shaping up to be a great week for Aldi Coffee lovers with the addition of the Crofton Stovetop Espresso Maker. This moka pot style espresso maker will be selling for just $9.99 so you can get your caffeine fix on a budget.

This moka pot looks to be on the larger size as well with a listed capacity of almost 1 liter (33.8-oz.). That is a lot of espresso!

Aldi lists that it brews up to 6 cups of espresso but I think that is basing it off of a standard cup of coffee instead of espresso. This can be a little confusing because a moka pot doesn’t make exactly the same espresso as an espresso maker that uses higher pressure.

A moka pot ends up with a strong coffee but more diluted than a shot of espresso. It is somewhere between a standard espresso and a strong cup of drip coffee but closer to the espresso side.

Bialetti is the “name brand” for Moka pots and they list a 22-oz. model as making 12 cups. If we use their measurement of “cups” the Crofton Moka Pot would maker about 18 cups.

Is It A Good Deal?

When comparing the Crofton Stovetop Espresso Maker to other moka pots you will want to compare the capacity instead of the “Cups” size. I would want to double check the packaging once this comes out but if it has the listed 33.8 oz / 1L capacity it is larger than most on the market.

Each brand tends to list a different cup size so it can be hard to do a quick comparison. Even if this is a smaller size the $10 price point is tough to beat.

One thing to consider is Moka Pots are designed to brew a full pot instead of a partial pot so if you don’t want a liter of strong coffee every morning it might not be the best choice for you.

If you do want a large moka pot I think the Crofton is a good deal. This is assuming it is similar quality to the non-name brand options on Amazon.

If you know you like Moka brewed coffee I think it is worth it to go with the name brand Bialetti. It is a good bit more than the Crofton but for something that should last a lifetime the price is very reasonable.
