The Best Aldi Coffee For Every Brew
Whether it is your first time buying coffee at Aldi or you are looking to try something different it can be tough to pick the best coffee just from the packaging.
I have been drinking Aldi coffee for years and have tried just about all the options and here are my top picks combined with some input from Reddit and Facebook.
I have tried most of these with a variety of brewing methods including a standard drip coffee maker, French press, pour over, and Aeropress.
I haven’t used every variety in every type of brew but I have a pretty good feel for the best.
You should also know that these picks are based primarily on my preference of drinking black coffee.
I prefer a strongly brewed cup that has bold flavor and not overly acidic. Most of my picks go well with cream or sugar if that is your preference as the coffee flavor won’t be overwhelmed if brewed right.

What Kind Of Coffee Does Aldi Carry?
Aldi carries a variety of coffee blends at really affordable prices so be sure to try out a few to find the one you like best. Aldi only carries a few coffee brands and most are Aldi-only brands. For a full list of every coffee at Aldi click here.
The most common brand is Barissimo Coffee which has a variety of flavors available. All the Barissimo coffee I have seen has been 100% Arabica coffee.
Aldi also has a coffee section in the refrigerated section where you will find premade iced coffee and cold brew from Aldi’s coffee brands and some more popular brands like Stok and Starbucks.
Aldi really is a great place to buy high-quality coffee at an awesome price. Check your local Aldi store if you are looking for a more affordable option for your morning coffee.
The don’t carry an extensive selection or 50 different brands of coffee but what they do have is solid.
My Favorite Aldi Coffee: Simply Nature Fair Trade Organic Whole Bean Coffee
This is my go-to for just about any brewing method. It’s organic, fair trade coffee, and the whole beans mean you’re getting the freshest cup possible.
I make coffee with a variety of brew methods so the whole bean gives me the most versatility while just buying one bag.
I keep a couple whole bean coffee bags on hand for my morning coffee. I would love to see some more whole bean coffee options at Aldi.

This is single origin organic coffee and both the Peru and Honduras origins make a great cup of coffee. You can sometimes find coffee from other regions as Aldi Finds. Peru and Honduras are regularly available right now.
It’s particularly great for French press and pour-over brews where the freshness really shines. This is a specialty coffee available at a fair price. Grab some on Instacart.
Best All-Around Ground Coffee: Specially Selected German Roast Coffee (Regular)
This ground coffee is versatile and rich. It’s my pick for those who want a reliable, everyday coffee without the fuss of grinding beans. It’s especially good in a standard drip coffee maker.
I like that it comes in vacuum sealed bricks which seem to help maintain the fresh flavor. It is also a coffee that you aren’t going to find at every grocery store.
The German Premium Roasted Ground Coffee is a bit darker than your standard American roast but lighter than a French Roast. If you don’t like dark roasts give the mild version a try.

Best Whole Bean, French Press, and Pour Over Coffee: Simply Nature Fair Trade Organic Whole Bean Coffee
Yes, it’s so good it’s worth mentioning twice. It won my top pick along with my picks for French Press and pour over/ Aeropress brewing.
It is the only Whole Bean Coffee that Aldi carries year round (at least in the stores around me) so it kind of won the Best Whole Bean category by default.
But it is a really good coffee and much cheaper than similar quality beans at other stores.
If you’re a whole bean fan, this is the best (and usually only) option Aldi has to offer.
The flavor profile is balanced, making it a great option for any brewing method.
The flavor profile is bold with some notes of dark chocolate but balanced and smooth. This organic coffee is a great option to get a delicious cup of coffee with any brewing method.
These are the best coffee beans at Aldi and you can grab a 12-ounce bag of beans less than $7 on Instacart as I am writing this!

French Press
The coarser grind and longer steep time of a French press really let the flavors of this organic, whole bean coffee come to life. If you prefer pre-ground coffee I also like to use the German Roast, French Roast, or any of the Barissimo Fair Trade Single Origin Ground Coffees (Guatemala, Colombia, Sumatra).
Pour Over or Aeropress
Again, the freshness of these whole beans makes them ideal for methods like pour-over and Aeropress, where every nuance of flavor is highlighted.
Don’t want to grind your own beans? The Barissimo Fair Trade, Single Origin Ground coffee is a great option. If you are making an espresso style shot in the Aeropress try using Cafe Bustelo.
- Professional-Grade Coffee Right at Home: A household name amongst baristas and coffee enthusiasts worldwide, the AeroPress Original is a new kind of coffee press that uses a rapid, total immersion…
- Goodbye, French Press: No more bitterness or grit. The rapid brewing of the AeroPress Original eliminates bitterness and acidity while the micro-filters keep grit out of your coffee (unlike a French…
Best for Drip Coffee Machine: Barissimo Fair Trade Adventure Blend

This blend is specifically crafted to shine in drip coffee machines. It’s a medium roast with a smooth finish, making it a crowd-pleaser for any occasion. It may be a bit more bold or complex than some people prefer, if that is the case try the Donut Shop blend. It is still flavorful and very smooth.
Best Aldi Coffee For Cold Brew: Barissimo Donut Store Blend
You really can’t go wrong with the coffee you pick for cold brew. I chose the Donut Store Blend because is is one of the cheaper options at Aldi and gives a nice balanced cold brew.
Aldi has also had coffee grounds specifically for Cold Brew as an Aldi find but I haven’t tried them out.
Typically a courser ground is recommended for cold brew so the whole beans would be a good choice as well but I find cold brew to be pretty forgiving so try out a few different options.
You could even go with the bulk ground Columbian ground coffee if you want to try to save some money.
Best Pre-Brewed Coffee: Barissimo Cold Brew Concentrate
If you’re in a rush, this cold brew concentrate is a lifesaver. It’s strong, so you can dilute it to your liking, and it’s got that classic cold brew smoothness.

It was a seasonal item during the summer of 2023 and you could get it in either regular or coconut flavored. Both were good and I usually don’t like coconut.
Best Coffee for Espresso: Cafe Bustelo
While not an Aldi brand, you can find Cafe Bustelo at most Aldi stores. You will find it in a yellow and red vacuum sealed brick for a pretty good price. It’s a dark roast that’s finely ground, making it perfect for a bold, rich espresso.
This is the only pre-ground espresso I have seen at Aldi. If you have a grinder you can also use any of the Simply Nature Whole Bean coffees.

Best Flavored Coffee: Barissimo Hazelnut Ground Coffee
If you’re into flavored coffee, this one’s a treat. The hazelnut flavor isn’t too overpowering, and it adds a nice touch of sweetness to your cup.
I don’t drink flavored coffee much but I occasionally buy it for company and this can make a good cup of coffee. Barissimo French Vanilla Coffee is the other flavored coffee that is carried year round but I don’t like it as much when drinking it black.
Be sure to check the Aldi Finds for seasonal coffee flavors and some unique specialty coffee flavors like Blueberry and Creme Brulé.

Best Dark Roast Coffee: Barissimo Fair Trade Midnight Blend
For those who love a strong, bold cup, this dark roast is a winner. It’s got deep, smokey notes with a little bitter dark chocolate that make it perfect for those who like their coffee with a kick.
Best Aldi Coffee Pods (K-Cup style): Breakfast Blend
Aldi carries a pretty wide variety of k cup coffee pods and most of the options are pretty similar to the ground coffee and whole bean options. I don’t actually have a coffee pod machine so I am basing this choice on the coffees I have tried that are available in pods and some user reviews on Reddit.

Barissimo Ground Coffee – Specially Selected German Roast – Barissimo Cold Brew Coffee
Barissimo Single Origin Coffee
Aldi’s Barissimo Single Origin Coffee is one of my go-to coffees from Aldi. The French Roast and Midnight blend are also in my rotation when shopping at Aldi.
Barissimo Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate-Original
Very solid cold brew coffee with a strong coffee flavor. I like that I can choose to keep it a bit stronger by changing the ratio. Smooth and not too acidic. Is it the best cold brew I ever had? No, but it is something I could drink daily with no problem.
Mocha & Latte Flavors
Good overall especially if you like lattes and other sweet/creamy coffee drinks. I hope we will see the Rise Black Nitro at Aldi soon for those of us that drink it black.
