Range Master Portable Charcoal Grill Reviews
Price is great, design and performance not so much
I bought this for a campout where we would not be able to cook over a campfire. Assembly was fine, except the carrying handle will not stay attached to the grill and simply falls off.
When we used it to cook, it is difficult to remove and replace the top grill grate in order to put the charcoal in, rearrange the charcoal, or add more. There is a small warming rack, and right below it there are two wing nuts that the hinge attaches to. Trying to get the top grate to slide in under the warming rack and above the wing nuts is problematic, especially when there are extremely hot coals directly below your hands. Heat-resistant gloves are recommended.
We also quickly learned that this product does not have sufficient airflow when the lid is closed, even with all vents open. Our coals kept dying out, so we had to keep opening the lid to let more oxygen in and trying to fan the coals to get them to heat up again. I think it’s because the “bottom” vents are actually above the coals, they just don’t get enough oxygen.
I really wanted to like this grill, especially for the price, but the poor design with the carrying handle and top grate making it a burn hazard and the fact the charcoal doesn’t get enough oxygen to keep the grill hot make it a pain to use.
