Sundae Shoppe Stroopwafel Ice Cream Sandwiches
I am a big fan of Aldi’s desserts and I really enjoyed Aldi’s Stroopwafel that was available this year so I am hoping that these Stroopwafel Ice Cream Sandwiches are just as good. It sounds like a perfect match, rich dulce de leche in between stroopwafel cookies and stuffed with vanilla ice cream. It should be a upgrade over the standard ice cream sandwich.
A Stroopwafel is a traditional Dutch dessert or snack. It consists of two thin layers of baked dough with a caramel-like syrup filling in the middle. The term “stroopwafel” literally translates to “syrup waffle” in English.
Stroopwafels are typically enjoyed with a cup of coffee or tea. The traditional way to eat a stroopwafel is to place it on top of a hot drink. The steam from the drink warms up the waffle and slightly melts the syrup, making it gooey and delicious. I probably wouldn’t try that with this ice cream sandwich though!
