Is Aldi’s Kids Electric Toothbrush A Good Buy?

This kids electric toothbrush from Aldi looks like a dupe of the Quip Kids Electric Toothbrush. The price isn’t that much lower that the Quip but it does include four brush heads instead of one which should make this the better deal. Of course that depends on if it works as well as the Quip.

Is The Dentiguard Toothbrush A Good Deal?

Aldi is definitely going after the Philips Sonicare Style Electric Toothbrush with this Aldi Find and they are doing it for about half the price of the lowest cost Philips Sonicare which sells for around $50. Both the Dentiguard and the Sonicare are going to have similar features listed so it is basically going to come down to if the Sonicare performs $25 better than the Dentiguard. Sonicare also has some models that sell for almost $200 but I am assuming the Dentiguard closest to the cheaper Sonicare in features and performance. I think for half the price of the Sonicare I would give the Dentiguard a try.

We can’t just compare Aldi’s version to the name brand, we also have to compare it to other store brands and off brands. Looking on Amazon it seems like Aldi has some competition. Similar style sonic toothbrushes are selling for $20-25 with good reviews and come with 6 brush heads. The 7am2m seems to be one of the more popular “off brand” sonic toothbrushes on Amazon and it is on sale right now. The main downfall I see with these is they don’t look to be compatible with the Philips Sonicare Brush heads. This means you will have to buy brush heads from only that company and won’t be able to find them in stores.

What About The Dentiguard Brush Heads?

The brush heads are also relatively cheap compared to the Phillips Sonicare Brush Heads that are selling for around $30 for a 5 pack right now. I generally pick up a big pack at Costco when the are on sale, which is a much better deal than the regular price. But the Dentiguard heads are about a third of the price and you get one more head out of it so I think it would be worth trying out.

If you compare Aldi’s electric toothbrush heads to the off brands on Amazon the prices are pretty close. Here is a 10 pack for around $14 which is not too far off of the price of the Dentiguard. You could go either way on this one. You can probably get a better deal on Amazon but you may need to buy a larger pack.

Same or better than Sonicare

I’ve used Phillips Sonicare for 20+ years. I had worn out a third one when I found the Aldi Dentiguard sonic toothbrush. The price was right to try it out. I LOVE IT! It cleans as well as, if not better, than the expensive one. The brush is even more gentle. There are four strength settings and the brush stops if you press too hard. This protects your teeth and your gums, but cleans impressively well.

I love this tooth brush. I would like to get more brush heads. Do you have any idea if I can order from Aldi? When I go on Amazon which was suggested, I am not having luck.

Brushes don’t have protective covers but you can buy them. Saw different videos by dental care experts. For handle long life, wipe the handle dry after use and knock the handle against a soft surface, like your hand palm, to shake water out of buttons and brush shaft. The cameraman of one video has kept his handle working for five years by keeping the handle dry and storing upside down in a cup. Had a Sonic brush that died after two years and opened it to find it damp and battery area corroded.

Ultrasonic brushing is a different approach compared to normal electric brushing. Key is to LIGHTLY touch the teeth. TIPS: Smear toothpaste on teeth before turning on. The brush operates on the principle of brushing 4 quadrant sections of the mouth and pauses briefly between quadrants. Stay on the quadrant (inside, outside, top of teeth) while lightly brush each area for 2 seconds in a slow circle before brushing the next area of teeth. If you use fluoride toothpaste, spit out the toothpaste BUT don’t rinse. Then don’t eat/drink for 20 minutes to allow fluoride to be absorbed into the teeth. Repeat: use light pressure against the teeth in comparison to regular toothbrushing.

Plenty of power, stays charged, and does an excellent job of cleaning my teeth. Money well-spent. Waiting for them to return in the rotation so I can buy a second one for travel.

Have been wanting a Sonicare for some time but couldn’t afford the price. Was amazed at how well it works. Went back to the store and bought a second one for my husband.
